About this event

Join us for another wonderful Book Club discussion, this time in recognition of Juneteenth. The title for this event will be Freedom is a Constant Struggle by keynote speaker Angela Davis. In these newly collected essays, interviews, and speeches, the world-renowned activist and scholar illuminates the connections between struggles against state violence and oppression throughout history and around the world.

Reflecting on the importance of black feminism, intersectionality, and prison abolitionism for today's struggles, Davis discusses the legacies of previous liberation struggles, from the Black Freedom Movement to the South African anti-Apartheid movement. She highlights connections and analyzes today's struggles against state terror, from Ferguson to Palestine.

The program will take place on two dates (June 2 and June 16). International House will provide copies of the book to those who register in advance, however, books are provided on the condition that you join for one of the virtual discussions*. Please only register for one session even if you intend to join both so that more participants can register to get a copy! Additional unregistered students can also join the conversation.

*Must register by Monday, May 30 to receive a physical copy in time. You can still register for an ebook after this time.
